We are delighted to report that the new Covid vaccine has been rolled out across all of our 17 care homes. This very positive move has seen 100% of all residents who wanted the vaccine vaccinated, and every single care home employee has been offered the vaccine with a very positive and promising uptake. At HICA we view this as being essential in the fight against the virus and are hopeful that there is now light at the end of the tunnel
Our teams and our residents have been some of the first in their area to have the vaccine and all were informed about the process and given the opportunity to discuss any reservations they may have.
Heather Joy, Director of Operations for the HICA Group said, “The vaccinations are one of the main tools in our fight to stop the spread of the disease and to alleviate the strain on our hospitals We would like to thank the NHS and our Local Authorities for their incredible work ensuring the rollout of the vaccine is a success.”
We are also happy to report that rollout of the vaccine is underway for our homecare staff also.
The latest national lockdown has left many older people feeling vulnerable in their own homes, as they are cut off from the support of family and friends. The rollout of the vaccinations will give people the confidence to consider moving to a care home, either permanently or for a short respite stay whilst shielding during the lockdown. All HICA’s 17 care homes have safety procedures firmly in place and they provide stimulation and social interaction, with the opportunity to safely enjoy activities and the company of others, alongside person-centred 24-hour care and support.
