About HICA

Welcome to the HICA Group, a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation that specialises in care and support solutions for older people and people with a learning disability.

Our services are provided within an established portfolio of 17 residential care homes, 12 of which are for older people and 5 of which are for people with a learning disability. We also have a well established domiciliary care service providing over 11,500 hours of varied levels of support and care from 5 regional offices.

Alongside this we also provide care and support in 3 extra care housing schemes in partnership with social landlords and local authorities.

We also operate two housing based schemes, a 145 residence Retirement Village in East Yorkshire and a 218 apartment care village in Chorley, Lancashire.

The Lancashire care village comprises of a 84 bed specialist dementia unit, and two 78 bed communities, one offering assisted living in an extra care environment and the other being an independent living scheme offering apartments for sale.

Our head office is based in Hull, however the extent of our service provision covers a large part of the North of England, and we have a presence in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Humberside and Lincolnshire.

Our 1500 strong workforce and all of our volunteers share our belief that people should be valued and respected, connected to their communities and in control of their lives. These principles drive our teams to empower every person who uses our services, to support them to lead a positive life and to continue to make a contribution to family, community and society.

We owe our strength to the quality of the people we employ. Their skill in delivering personal and positive active support is our most valuable asset, and we recognise the importance of recruiting and retaining good people. Our investment in their continued professional development and training is essential. We have set up our Shine Academy to support, train, mentor and develop our staff throughout their employment with us. We believe that continuous professional development together with experience enhance the expert care that our staff provide and we actively encourage our teams to achieve recognised qualifications that support and develop them personally and professionally.

Our teams are empowered to provide professional care and support, and to uphold Hica values and standards. These standards stretch across the board, not just in relation to the care we provide, but also in our hospitality, housekeeping, maintenance and administrative services.
