A care home in Hull recently held a successful 15-hour danceathon recently, which raised over £600 towards the residents’ minibus fund. The funds, raised by staff members at Elm Tree Court in East Hull, will be used to help purchase a minibus to take residents to specialised activities and day trips.
The danceathon started at 7am and ended at 10pm and featured some great music, old and new and fabulous dancing. Staff and some of the residents danced the day away dressed in themed costumes. The danceathon took place at the care home where a living room was transformed into a dance floor decorated with bright banners, disco balls and vintage music posters.
Elm Tree Court is residential care home situated on Preston Road in Hull. The home, which is owned and managed by Yorkshire-headquartered social care group HICA, caters for 72 residents and specialises in dementia care and person-centred support.
Becka Wiles, a Senior Activity Coordinator at Elm Tree Court, said: ““The day was brilliant with lots of support from staff, families and friends.
“Staff dressed up for the occasion and the residents loved all the music and dancing. It enhanced everyone’s wellbeing as well raising money for our minibus fund.
“The funds raised will bring us one step closer to getting the minibus, which will make a real difference in improving the experiences and independence of our residents.
“Huge thank you to everyone involved and for your donations.”
