HICA catering partners Apetito UK paid a series of surprise visits across all HICA service locations to deliver huge amounts of lemon drizzle cakes to say thanks to all the care workers who have unflinching in their determination to support service users during the difficult covid situation.
Apetito representative Mark Midgely said, “We work closely alongside the HICA Group and we have been in awe in the way they have coped during the current difficulties. And as it was National Carers Week we really wanted to make a statement to say how much we respect everything that they are doing to ensure their service users are impacted as little a possible. So we thought what better way of saying thanks that with cake!”
Mark and his colleague Chris Howe set off early one morning doing a tour of the HICA services dropping off the cake as they went.
Manager Angela Williams of HICA at Home-Doncaster said, “This was an amazing gesture from Apetito. It meant the world to all our care workers to know that people outside the company are aware of how well they have been performing under the most difficult of circumstances and that they wanted to do something to say thanks. We have had some very emotional care workers. And the cakes were delicious!”
HICA CEO Terry Peel agreed, saying “This is partnership working at its finest. Apetito are not just the suppliers of food to our services, they are a part of the HICA Family. We were bowled over by their recent generosity and anything that helps keep morale high at HICA is very welcome indeed. Thank you Apetito.”
