Across the HICA Group our homes have specialist touch screen tables made by Inspired Inspirations.
The tables are a large scale version of a handheld tablet with all the same abilities and more.
The tablets have been a wonderful tool for person-centered care. Over the festive period the tables have been very popular, they can be used for Christmas themed games, they can connect our homes together enabling our residents to take part in virtual Christmas quizzes and they can be used to help residents to reminisce about past Christmases. The large size of the screens means they are also a wonderful way to connect residents with their family, allowing full screen video calls, so residents can clearly see and interact with their relatives.
The touch screen tables are fast becoming a part of everyday life at HICA and are proving to be very popular with residents, with the options for many interactive games and everything from puzzles to music to sensory games, there are options to suit everyone’s interests. The tables are fantastic as they can help with problem solving, hand eye co-ordination and manual dexterity as well as the social aspect which helps residents to feel happy and relaxed.
These tables have been designed specifically for use in care homes and their large screen, movability, adjustable angle and height make them very accessible both to individuals and to groups and they have been making both residents and staff smile. With the different options available they can also be tailored to an individual’s personal abilities and interests allowing our activity coordinators to create experiences that are truly person-centered.
