Chef- Buckshaw Retirement Village

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced catering professional to join our team as a Chef. This position is to cover various shifts on a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 8pm with alternate weekend working. We will consider applications for full or part time hours.

About the role:

As a Chef you will support the Catering Manager in the delivery of a high-quality catering service with an emphasis on presentation and quality. You will liaise with both residents and colleagues to plan and prepare meal that meet the individual needs of residents and other customers.

You will supervise a team of catering and hospitality staff on a day-to-day basis in the production and service of a high-quality food and beverage service. You will ensure excellent standards of cleanliness and food preparation; maintaining hygiene and food safety standards in line with environmental health regulations at all times.

You will also manage the catering budget and complete ordering to maintain stock levels whilst minimising wastage.

What we’re looking for:

You will need to be qualified in food preparation and food hygiene, along with having a good working knowledge of environmental health guidelines and health and safety legislation.

You will need to have previous experience working in a catering environment and be able to demonstrate an understanding of setting nutritionally balanced menus. Experience of stock control, ordering and minimising wastage is also advantageous.

You should be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate a team and be willing to train staff in the use of catering equipment. You will also need to have good communication skills and be able to interact with residents, visitors, colleagues and other professionals.

Flexibility is essential as you will be required to cover shifts on a rota basis to cover various shifts between the hours of 8am and 8pm with alternate weekend working.
